Former Indian great Yuvraj Singh predicted the player who he thinks can hit six sixes in an over in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 which will be played in the West Indies and the United States from June 1.
During the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup in 2007 in South Africa, Yuvraj etched his name in the history books forever during a Group match against England at Kingsmead, Durban.
In one of the most memorable matches in T20 cricket history, English pacer Stuart Broad was bashed for six sixes in an over by Yuvraj after a heated exchange with Andrew Flintoff.
The left-hander completed his half-century in just 12 balls, becoming the fastest 50 in T20I cricket at that time. Yuvraj’s record was later broken by Nepal’s Dipendra Singh Airee in a match against Mongolia.
While the likes of Travis Head, Andre Russell and Will Jacks are lighting up the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 with their power hitting, Yuvraj went on to name India’s Hardik Pandya as the one to hit six sixes in an over in the mega event.
“Hardik Pandya is likely to hit 6 sixes in one over in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024,” stated Yuvraj in an interview with the ICC.
Yuvraj’s prediction is nothing less than a surprise for fans as Pandya is struggling greatly in IPL 2024 in all aspects of the game. Many are even asking India to drop the all-rounder for the World Cup following his abysmal performance in the league.
Earlier, Yuvraj was named the T20 World Cup 2024 Ambassador. The former Indian great will be attending promotional events in the US before and during the World Cup, including the most-anticipated clash of the mega event between Pakistan and India in New York on June 9.
